The 2026/27 PDC World Darts Championship has a total prize fund of GBP 5,000,000. The winner receives GBP 1,000,000, the runner-up GBP 400,000, and even a player who loses in the first round takes home GBP 15,000.
Below is the full table by round, a check that it adds up, and what the prize money means for the world rankings. For the format of the event, see the World Darts Championship format.

Does the table add up?
We multiplied each row and added the results (our own check of the published figures):
| Result | Players x prize | Subtotal |
|---|---|---|
| Winner | 1 x 1,000,000 | 1,000,000 |
| Runner-up | 1 x 400,000 | 400,000 |
| Semi-finalists | 2 x 200,000 | 400,000 |
| Quarter-finalists | 4 x 100,000 | 400,000 |
| Fourth round losers | 8 x 60,000 | 480,000 |
| Third round losers | 16 x 35,000 | 560,000 |
| Second round losers | 32 x 25,000 | 800,000 |
| First round losers | 64 x 15,000 | 960,000 |
| Total | 128 players | 5,000,000 |
The sum is exactly the stated prize fund of GBP 5,000,000.
Prize money and the world rankings
The PDC world rankings are calculated on a two-year cycle: prize money won in ranking tournaments counts for 104 weeks and is then removed. At the end of the World Championship the money won at this tournament is added to a player's ranking and the money from the 2025 World Championship is taken off. That is why one deep run at Alexandra Palace can move a player a long way up or down the list.
The ranking also matters for the Tour Card. After the tournament the top 64 players in the PDC world rankings receive a one-year extension on their Tour Card. Players with two or more years left on their Tour Card who finish outside the top 64 lose it, and their ranking is reset to GBP 0, as are the rankings of all other players without a Tour Card who earned prize money in ranking tournaments.
What this means if you play yourself
Prize money is only one way to read a tournament. Your own results are in your average and your checkout rate, which Darts Counter keeps for every leg, and the average guide shows how the number is worked out.
