How to read the chart

Each route uses as few darts as possible. Between equal routes we prefer the friendliest finishing doubles (D20, D16, D8), then the most common set-up darts (T20, T19). Every route is checked by code: it adds up to the score and ends on a double.

Seven scores you cannot finish.

169, 168, 166, 165, 163, 162 and 159 have no three-dart checkout. Leave yourself a finish instead: 170 is the highest checkout, 110 the highest with two darts, and 50 (the bull) the highest with one.

Checkout basics.

What is the highest checkout in darts?

170, thrown as treble 20, treble 20, bull. It is the highest score you can finish with three darts on a double.

What are bogey numbers?

Scores of 170 or less that cannot be finished with three darts: 169, 168, 166, 165, 163, 162 and 159.

What does double out mean?

The leg must end with an exact score of zero, and the last dart must land in a double segment or the bullseye.

Does the outer bull count as a double?

No. The outer bull (25) is a single. The bullseye (50) counts as a double, so you can finish on it.

What is the highest two-dart checkout?

110, thrown as treble 20 and bull.
